LWC men ready for road matchup with Cumberland tonight By Brady Budke After just a single day of rest, the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team is set to return to the floor tonight to face off against Cumberland (Tenn.) at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena in Lebanon, Tennessee. Cumberland (4-3, 3-2 MSC) enters tonight winners of four out of the last five games, but recently fell 70-66 to Campbellsville (KY) in a road battle back on Dec. 31. The Phoenix enter tonight's matchup averaging 78.5 points per game on offense while allowing 75.1 PPG to opponents in return. Five different CU players average double figures, led by Tavon King who sits at 20.2 PPG on 47.4 percent shooting from the field. Isaac Stephens has been a valuable asset scoring the ball and on the glass for his squad this season, corralling a double-double average of 12 PPG and 10.4 rebounds per game. Cumberland sits at the bottom of the conference in total blocks (12), blocks per game (1.7), and rebounding margin (-4.8). However, the team comfortably leads the conference in turnover margin (5.1) with King having garnered the team-high of 2.1 steals per game. Lindsey Wilson (3-5, 1-4 MSC) has dropped three straight contests, recently falling to Campbellsville by a final of 90-76 at Biggers Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. Colen Gaynor has amassed a team-high three double-doubles this season for the Blue Raiders, recently chipping in 21 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Campbellsville. Elijah Jordan guides the scoring average at 15.1 PPG on 48.5 percent shooting. Payton Cundiff has been efficient from behind the arc, shooting 46.6 percent from deep while notching 27 of the team's 47 total 3-point makes. LWC has seen struggles in the rebounding and 3-point shooting departments this season, falling to the bottom of the conference in defensive rebounds per game (38.8) and 3-point field goal percentage (26.1%). However, the team has climbed up to third in the conference in turnover margin (2.5) with help from Jordan at 1.7 SPG and Ryan Friday close behind at 1.3 SPG. Live video and live stats will be available from the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena. Cumberland will not be allowing visiting fans into the arena for this contest.
