LWC Basketball to battle Georgetown Thursday Afternoon

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's basketball teams are set to return to the court tomorrow afternoon, facing off against Georgetown (KY) at the Davis-Reid Alumni Gym, 400 E College St, Georgetown, KY. The women's game is slated for NoonCT, while the men will play shortly after at 2:30pmCT.



The Georgetown women's basketball team enters tomorrow's contest with a record of 1-2, including an 0-1 mark in the Mid-South Conference. Despite a handful of postponements, the team recently played on Dec. 29, falling to (RV) Cumberlands (KY) by a final of 82-66.

The Tigers are led in scoring this season by Terri Abram at 14 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting from the field. Grace White is closing in on a double-double average of 12.3 points and eight rebounds per game. As a team, GC is averaging 78.7 PPG but is allowing 84 PPG to opponents in return.

The No. 19 Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team (8-1, 3-1 MSC) steps back on the court for the first time since Dec. 5, where the squad easily defeated Freed-Hardeman (TN) by a score of 80-63.

Reagan Turner leads the charge on offense for LWC, averaging 21.6 PPG, which ranks second in the MSC. Sydnie Hall is shooting a team-high 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from behind the arc in her freshman season, while Bree Glover holds team-high averages of rebounds (8.6), steals (1.6), and blocks (1.8) per game.

Over on the men's side, No. 6 Georgetown (5-1, 2-1 MSC) returns to action after defeating Pikeville (KY) by a final of 90-79 on Dec. 12. The Tigers lone loss this season came against No. 11 Cumberlands on Dec. 3, where the squad fell 86-81 on the road.

Kyran Jones has garnered a fantastic season so far for GC, averaging a double-double with team-highs of 21.1 PPG and 12.6 RPG. Jake Ohmer and Derrin Boyd also provide valuable offense for Georgetown, with Ohmer averaging 19.3 PPG while Boyd is at 17.7 PPG. The Tigers are shooting a hot 50.3 percent from the field, which ranks second in the MSC.

As for Lindsey Wilson (3-3, 1-2 MSC), the Blue Raiders enter Georgetown tomorrow after falling to Shawnee State (OH) at Biggers Sports Center back on Dec. 5 by a final of 67-47.

Elijah Jordan has corralled a strong presence on the floor this season for LWC, leading the team at 15.5 PPG on offense and two steals per game on defense. Colen Gaynor anchors Lindsey Wilson on the glass at 8.8 RPG, while Payton Cundiff guides the 3-point shooting with having made 18 of the team's 35 total this season.
