Letter: Mary Anne's food program

Martha Berry writes:
One food that was missing was the fruit cake which was a staple at our house during the Holidays. Mother's recipe does not have all the candied fruit that so many do not like. The ingredients include apples, figs, raisins, currants, molasses, pecans or black walnuts and grape juice, plus the normal spices. I have no idea how old this recipe is or where it came from but we grew up on it.
