OCC Collects 2,001 Shoe Box Gifts Click headline for photos from the last day of donations Operation Christmas Child has completed another successful campaign in Adair County collecting 2,001 shoebox gifts for children in need. OCC is one of many outreach projects of Samaritans Purse. They have been collecting shoebox gifts for over 25 years and sending them to boys and girls around the world. "Needless to say we are once again overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of Adair County. We thought that we were going to come up just a few boxes shy of 2000 and then we received some items that had been collected by residents of Angel Manor Apartments which enabled us to pack an additional number of shoeboxes to reach our goal of 2,000," said Community Relations Coordinator Mark Fudge. This year the boxes collected in Adair County will travel to the Charlotte, North Carolina Processing Center. The boxes will go from there to children all around the world. "This outpouring of love by the people of Adair County is nothing short of amazing, especially considering the pandemic that we are experiencing," said Fudge.
