Letter: More binds us together than separates us

A response to: Points of view differ in this election season

By Josh Blakley

I totally agree that everyone's point of view is easy to see during an election. We have varying ideas, thoughts, and agendas that stem from our up-bringing, education, and life experiences.

What we all must remember or realize as Americans is that there is more that binds us together and makes us brothers and sisters than those things that separate us. Democrat or Republican, Religion or Creed, Race or Gender, we must not let these times of conflicting opinions cause us to say and do things we may regret or put us in long term purgatory with friends and neighbors.

In the months to come, when all this starts to settle, we all we be living in the same community, shopping at some of the same stores, eating at some of the same restaurants, having some of the same struggles, and enjoying some of the same success. If I may be so bold as to interject my personal thought of faith.....

No matter who holds the Senate, no matter who holds the House, no matter who holds the presidency, no matter the outcome of covid, God is still on the throne and he holds us all in the palm of his hands. Smile at someone, even if you are wearing a mask and no one can see it. It will benefit you regardless!!! May all my Columbia Magazine friends Be blessed!!!
