Homemakers annual banquet revisits 70 years of contributions

Seventy years of work and dedication by the Adair County Extension Homemakers organization were celebrated at the annual banquet October 24, 2019 at the extension office, 409 Fairgrounds Street, Columbia, KY.

It was in 1949 that a local group of interested citizens appeared before Fiscal Court presenting reasons for receiving the services of the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension service.

State and local leaders present Homemakers program

Both state and local leaders presented the program at the Homemakers Banquet Thursday night. One item of business included the election of a new Vice President for Program, Glenda Brouckaert, who is pictured at left. To her right are Sharon Wood, KEHA First Vice President; Cyndy Humble, Lake Cumberland Area President; Sharon Harris, Adair County President; Betty Knifley, Adair Vice President for Membership; and Sandra Watts, Adair County Secretary.

This large crowd in attendance at the annual banquet of the Adair County Homemakers was a result of contributions made since a 1949 group of interested citizens appeared before Fiscal Court presenting the need of the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension service. Adair Homemakers 2019 banquet - Eva Wilkinson honored

So happy you got to see me

Paula Miller, center, told Charles and Barbara Barnes she was so happy they got to see her - usually Charles' line - at the annual Adair County Homemakers Banquet. Paula was the happy caterer for the event serving up pork, chicken, vegetables and desserts including one called "Fallen Angel Pie", and there's probably a story behind that name.
