Kentucky Color: A dog days poetic mystery

By Billy Joe Fudge
Dog Days of August begin,
Hot, humid, with little wind.
Dog Days' dawns are not so bright
While dusks are, a splendid sight.

Though we give them love and care,
Summer blooms are showing wear;
We thank them for their visit
With a Dog Days, "what is it"?
