Board begins 2022-2023 year at Taylor Chamber

The Campbellsville Taylor County Chamber of Commerce fiscal year began July 1st and the 2022-23 Chamber Board of Directors terms began.

The 2022-23 Chamber Board of Directors are: Jason England (President), Montel Richardson (Past President), Alan Clayton, Ann Dabney, Kristen Davis, John Eastridge, Joey Hartlage, Devin Hughes, Joan McKinney, MeLeigha Milby, Elisha Rhodes and Eric Thompson.

Wednesday night is Food Ministry night at CVC

Cane Valley Christian Church has a food ministry each first and third Wednesday Night from 5 to 6pm in the Church Basement.

Pastor Bro. Godfrey Jackson and Board Members James Cundiff, Bill Henson, and Jerry Watson invite anyone in need of food to come, there is no charge. Pick up, Carry out.

Adair Co. students graduate Rogers Scholars/Explorers programs

Three students from Adair County graduated The Center for Rural Development's youth programs this summer. Ellie Cheatham graduated from the Rogers Scholars program, while J.T. Loy and Preston Wilson graduated from the Rogers Explorers program.

Cheatham is the daughter of Bryan and Tiffany Cheatham of Columbia. Loy is the son of Michael and Robin Loy of Columbia, and Wilson is the son of Jonathan and Ashley Wilson of Columbia.

Taylor, Cumberland awarded funds to upgrade voting machines

Frankfort, KY - The six candidates for federal and state office who prevailed in the May 17 primary election, but were not previously certified for the general election ballot due to spurious recount petitions, have now been certified by unanimous, bipartisan vote of the State Board of Elections.

The Board also voted to allocate $630,000 to 11 counties for upgrading their voting equipment to paper-ballot-based, auditable machines. The counties and awarded amounts are:
  • Henry - $50,000
  • Taylor - $50,000
  • Cumberland - $25,000
  • Whitley - $90,000
  • McLean - $20,000
  • Bourbon - $40,000
  • Perry - $92,500
  • Simpson - $32,500
  • Lincoln - $42,500
  • Pike - $142,500
  • Lawrence - $45,000

James Howard Bell, 97, Casey County, KY (1925-2022)

James Howard Bell died peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side on August 16, 2022, in Liberty, KY, at the age of 97.

He will be remembered most for his love and faithfulness to the Lord. He loved to pray for his family and spoke often about sharing Heaven with them. Howard was a dedicated member of Mt. Pleasant Church and loved his Pastor and church family. He was a Veteran in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was presented with a Quilt of Valor in May 2022 for his service. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed working in the garden, mowing the lawn, tractors, and being outdoors. He especially loved sitting on the porch and watching his Martins.

New 4-H Dog Program

There is a new Dog Club in town! Adair County 4-H will be offering a new 4-H Dog Program starting this year. Make plans to join us for our first meeting to get this going. The meeting will begin at 5:30pmCT on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. See you there!

Mark Hamilton Rees, Columbia, KY (1963-2022)

Mark Hamilton Rees died in his home in Columbia, KY on August 4, 2022.

He was buried in a private ceremony in the Hill Cemetery next to his friend Roger Fitch.

Certificates of Delinquency available for inspection

Lisa Greer, Adair County Clerk, pursuant to KRS 424.130, announces that the 2021 Delinquent Real Property Tax Bills (Certificates of Delinquency) will be published in the Adair Progress on August 18, 2022.

The list of Certificates of Delinquency is also available for public inspection during the hours of Monday through Friday, 8amCT to 4pmCT, and Saturday 8amCT to 11amCT, at the County Clerk's office located at 424 Public Sq., Ste 3, Columbia, KY.

This list may also be inspected on the Adair County Clerk's website. The Uniform Resource Locater (URL) of the website is adair.clerkinfo.net.

The tax sale will be held on September 21, 2022, beginning at 10amCT.

Kentucky State Parks announces launch of 2022 photo contest

Dawson Springs, KY - Kentucky State Parks is proud to announce the launch of their 2022 Photo Contest. The three-month contest is accepting photo submissions now through October 31, 2022, and provides an opportunity for U.S. residents 18 and over to share stories through photography.

Participants who enter the photo contest will have the opportunity to choose between the following categories: Camping, Scenic, Trails, and Park Activities. Qualifying submissions will be judged based on originality, artistic composition, technical quality, and whether the photograph showcases the best of Kentucky State Parks camping and outdoor activities.

State parks visitors are encouraged to enter the official Kentucky State Parks 2022 Photo Contest at www.kystateparkscontest.com. Winners will be announced in December.
