Phillip Coffey - Life's Tenure

By Phillip Coffey
Saddened by the resolution-got too many blue jeans.
Out of the clothes closets - down into the desolate street.
No need for long taring - give the faded, well worn to others.
Seamtress will take them - make quilts for those soon cold.

Living in hypocrisy - gulping down all the grouped denials
Are surely the very worse periods during life's lonely tenure.
One must take in each given day - trying to be a little better.
When approaching the curves - slowly proceed around each bend.

Zippy the Cat claims new treasure

2021-06-26 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Vicky Pike of Miss Vicky's Pampered Angus Ranch.
Yes, our island. He’s taken it over. Guess he likes the cool marble. We found this treasure at the Briar Patch and as soon as we got it in he claimed his thrown. He’s one rotten cat but he’s so darn cute who could say no to that mug. Lol - VP

Beacon Project lighting way to success for foster care alumni

The Beacon Project, a new program at Western Kentucky University, is lighting the way to college success for students who were part of the state's foster care system.

According to the online description of the program, "The Beacon Project serves as a beacon of hope for foster youth throughout the Commonwealth. Participating students know that when they choose to attend WKU, they will get the best of what we have to offer, that they are valued, and that we believe the rest of their life holds the best of their life. These future leaders will know that the Hilltopper family is dedicated to their success as we climb arm in arm with them to achieve greater heights."

Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) is extending the deadline for new concept proposals for the second round of the specialty crop block grant program. The new deadline for preliminary proposals is July 9, 2021.
