LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 6/8/2021

REMINDER - As cases are continuing to decline for the most part and we are fortunate enough to see the majority of our counties in the green or yellow designations, this will be the final week of these reports being sent out nightly. LCDHD will continue to update the local health department webpage with current statistics and relevant information for your use. Please know how very much we appreciate all you have done for your families, patients, employees and citizens during this pandemic!

Kenneth Lloyd Thrasher, 88, Burkesville, KY native (1933-2021)

Mr. Kenneth Lloyd Thrasher of Smiths Grove, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Tri-Star Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. He was 88 years old.

The Funeral will be conducted at 2pmCT on Friday, June 11, 2021, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main St, Burkesville, KY, with Mike Murphy and David Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Burkesville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:30pmCT until the funeral hour on Friday in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home.

Jim Hubbard, 64, Metcalfe County, KY (1956-2021)

Jimmie (Jim) Ronald Hubbard, 64, of Edmonton passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, June 6, 2021. Jim was born November 7, 1956 to the late Jimmie and Ruth Smith Hubbard.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Timothy Donald Hubbard. He grew up in Metcalfe County and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and served in the National Guard.

He was a very family-oriented man. He spent his last day here on earth sitting on the front porch giving advice to his family and having pictures made with all the family members individually.

CPD: Traffic stop leads to trafficking arrest

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 1amCT, the Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Campbellsville Street. Upon making contact, K9 Unit Cally was utilized and alerted on vehicle for possible narcotics.

A search of the vehicle yielded findings of drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine and suspected marijuana.

Campbellsville has new fireworks ordinance

The City of Campbellsville recently introduced a new ordinance dealing with the sale and the use of fireworks in the City of Campbellsville. Our goal is to use our website (www.campbellsvillefire.com/fireworks) as a tool for your fireworks questions. The ordinance has two divisions: Sale of Fireworks and Use of Fireworks.

Use of Fireworks Summary
You are allowed to use fireworks on the following days:
  • December 31 from 10amET until January 1 at 12:30amET
  • July 3 and July 5 from 10amET to 11pmET
  • July 4 from 10amET until July 5 at 12:30amET
Any other time has to have an approved Special Fireworks Discharge Permit from Campbellsville Fire-Rescue.

Green Co. Grand Jury returns indictments Fri 28 May 2021

Indictments brought against eight individuals from Magnolia, Hodgenville, Louisville and Greensburg, KY, on charges including wanton endangerment, arson, strangulation, assault, flight, speeding, possession, DUI, resisting arrest, rape, and theft.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Douglas Ray Burton, 63, Campbellsville, KY native (1957-2021)

Douglas Ray Burton of Linden, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at his home. He was 63 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 10amCT on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Weathers officiating. Burial will follow in Bearwallow Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Friday.

Ashley Allen, 41, Campbellsville, KY (1980-2021)

Ashley Runa Ashbrook Allen of Campbellsville passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was 41 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 10amCT on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Steve Martin and Bro. David Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

ACSO: Adair Co. woman arrested on felony drug charges

On Thursday, June 4, 2021, at 8:10pmCT, Adair County Sheriff's Deputy Kenny Perkins initiated a traffic stop on Melson Ridge Road, approximately 15 miles south of Columbia.

During the traffic stop, the driver was found to have an active warrant out of Adair County. During her arrest, methamphetamine and marijuana were discovered on or about her person.

ACSO: Taylor Co. man arrested for trafficking

On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 2:48amCT, Adair County Sheriff's Deputy Kenny Perkins initiated a traffic stop on KY Hwy 55, approximately 5 miles north of Columbia.

As a result of the traffic stop, methamphetamine, a large amount of a suspected synthetic drug and cash were located and seized.

CACVFD raise over $46K for Crusade for Children in 2021

The Columbia-Adair County Volunteer Fire Departments ended the 68th Annual WHAS Crusade for Children Telethon Roadblock with $46,500. This is a $9,653.49 increase over our 2020 total.

This brings our total to $1,267,370.88 collected and brought back to Adair County since 1954. Thanks to everyone that donated. We will see you again next year.

We are dedicating this year's Crusade In Memory of Mr. Bobby Caldwell our last founding member of the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, who passed away this year.

Breeding Fire Department raised: $2,012.19
Knifley Fire Department raised: $694.22.
