LWC welcomes first doctoral students

Eight individuals from four states made history this week at Lindsey Wilson College when they became the school's first doctoral students. The eight students are enrolled in LWC's doctoral program in counselor education and supervision, which begins this fall. The 72-hour, weekend PhD program prepares leaders in the field of professional counseling. The students and faculty members were welcomed into the program Friday night by LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. at a reception held at the Emily Hundley President's Home. FRANKFORT, KY -- The Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the federal government today finalized an agreement on a formal process for importing industrial hemp seeds into the Commonwealth. As a result, the department filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit it brought against the federal government in May.

I saw photo of several people at this intersection on ColumbiaMagazine a day or two ago. The cutline mentioned the numerous signs, and while there are several signs there, I haven't noticed them interfering with my visual area either when I'm on Highway 55 South or on the bypass.

Mr. Dewey Chester Young, Cumberland Co., KY (1940-2014)

He was a Christian and attended Spears Chapel Community Church, a U. S. Army Veteran and a self-employed handyman. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was he son of James Ress and Jewell Roach Young. His wife, Ida Ruth Melton Young, survives.

AC Middle School Cheerleading to host 5K Run Walk

Green Co., KY husband charged with attempted murder

Charge follows investigation of domestic disturbance. Following investigation, KSP alleges 54 year old had fired shots at his wife. He has been lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center, charged with menacing, resisting arrest, cutlivaation of marijuana, wanton endangerment, along with the attempted murder charge.

Kentucky State Police Post 15 responded to 822 Hudgins HWY in Green County at 4:02pmCT, on August 14, 2014 to a report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon units' arrival they discovered that Tony Evans, 54, of Summersville, had been involved in a domestic altercation with his wife Debbie Evans.

Rosa Garrison, 102, Adair County, KY (1912-2014)

She was a great woman, a warm and awesomely inspirational person to all who knew her. Mrs. Garrison was a member of Milltown United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully over the years. She taught various Sunday School classes, led singing, was active in the women's group and always a servant and prayer warrior. She was the matriarch of a distinguished Adair County, KY family, the daughter of the late Robert Samuel & Rena Stone Thomas and the widow of Roy Garrison. She leaves 31 direct living descendants.

The Columbia/Adair County Utility District Board of Trustees responded to the Trail Town USA planning group's for access to a launch site on utility owned property with a two phased approach. 1) The Board voted to allow a temporary launch site by the wastewater plant to be used in the Downtown Days Trial Run, and 2) Took consulting engineer David Bowles advice to consider the removal of the old Columbia Water Department property on Water Street and build a permanant launch site there.

Finn returns to LWC as Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach

Daniel Finn is 2006 Graduate of Lindsey Wilson COllege. The Edmonton, KY, native was a member of the Lindsey Wilson men's tennis program from 2003-06. Following his playing career, Finn entered the coaching ranks as a student-assistant for the Blue Raiders. Now he is back.

The Personal Greatness GRIT model for Adair County High School and all of the 23 Race to the Top-District (RTT-D) high schools participating in the grant has now been developed by Franklin Covey and the kid-FRIENDLy RTT-D leadership and is ready to transform the high school experience. The process of developing and shaping teens who are Goal Driven, Resilient, and Influential in their schools and communities began at ACHS on Monday Night August 11th during freshman orientation. This is just the beginning of a major culture shift happening not only at Adair County High but at high schools across the kid-FRIENDLy RTT-D Green River and Ohio Valley Educational Cooperatives (GRECC and OVEC).
