Basketball doubleheader at Biggers, LWC vs Fisk, 22 Jan 2018

COLUMBIA, KY - (Mon 22 Jan 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's basketball teams host Fisk (TN) on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, with the women's game starting at 6pmCT followed by the men's game at 8pmCT.
The Blue Raiders women (15-3) defeated Cumberlands (KY) 57-47 on Saturday. Lindsey Wilson had three players in double figures led by Kayla Styles who recorded her 10th double-double of the season scoring a game-high 21 points and grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds. Teanna Curry added 14 points while Reagan Turner chipped in with 13 and connected on all four of her attempts at the charity stripe. Lindsey Wilson outshot the Patriots 37.7 percent to 36.5 and limited them to just 2-of-16 shooting from beyond the arc. The Blue Raiders held a slight 34-30 edge in rebounds.
Lindsey Wilson ranks second in the NAIA in three point field goal percentage defense (.218), third in blocks (97), fourth in blocks per game (5.4) and field goal percentage defense (.328). The Blue Raiders rank seventh in rebound margin (9.4), ninth in scoring defense per game (55.6) and 10th in rebounds per game with 44.3. Gerda Paulauskaite ranks first in blocks per game with 2.9 and Styles ranks fifth in points per game with 20.3.
Fisk (3-10) defeated Crowley's Ridge (AR) on Jan. 13 67-51. Jada Jones scored a game-high 22 points. Lashae Brown added 16 points and Ti'Ara Clark chipped in with nine. Fisk shot 49 percent from the field and limited Crowley's Ridge to just 40.9 percent shooting. The Bulldogs forced 17 turnovers and recorded 13 steal. Brown leads the team in scoring averaging 14.3 points per game. Jones is second on the team in scoring averaging 13.6 points.
Tonight's matchup is the fifth meeting between the two schools. The Blue Raiders have won all four previous matchups, all being at Biggers Sports Center. Last season Lindsey Wilson picked up a 74-51 victory.
The No. 2-ranked men's team (18-1) dropped its first game of the season on Saturday 86-61 to Cumberlands. The Blue Raiders recorded season-lows in field goal percentage (32.8), assists (4), points (61) and field goals made (19). Bryan Wallace scored a game-high 24 points on 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Wallace added six rebounds and two steals. Charles Sutton was the only other Blue Raider in double figures with 15 points. Pepper Ben Ofokile added a team-high eight rebounds.
Lindsey Wilson ranks second in Field goal Percentage defense (0.374), second in total steals (214), third in blocks per game (5.7), scoring defense per game (64.1), steals per game (11.3) and total blocks with 102. The Blue Raiders rank fourth in turnover margin (5.3), fifth in scoring margin (25.4) and seventh in assists per game (19.2). Wallace ranks first in steals per game (3.9) and total steals with 74.
Fisk (10-4) lost to Florida College 79-71 on Saturday. The Bulldogs had four players in double figures led by Ryainni Scott who scored a game-high 19 points. Victor Alston recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. El Paso Pitts added 14 points while Joshua Madison chipped in with 11. Scott leads the team in scoring with 13 points per game.
Tonight's matchup is the fourth meeting between the two schools. The Blue Raiders have won the previous three meetings, all being at Biggers Sports Center. Last season Lindsey Wilson picked up a 93-85 victory.
