Elizabeth Wayne Pickett, 96, Columbia, KY (1928-2024)

Elizabeth Wayne (Coffey) Pickett, formerly of Columbia, died on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1:10 A.M. at the Hospice House in Bowling Green. She was 96 years old.

The funeral service will be held at NoonCT on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Orr Cemetery in Green County.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Monday.


She was born February 9, 1928, in Green County, to the late Olie Atwell and Nettie Beulah Dawson Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Colby Pickett, her sons-in-law, Charles Jones and Billy Grant and the following siblings, Winfrey Coffey, Ray Coffey, Naomi Coffey, Gertrude Garrison and Kathleen Squires.

Wayne was a member of Columbia Baptist Church, a homemaker and enjoyed fishing and working with the garden produce, being the best of any cutting off corn.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters - Sue Grant of Columbia and Donna Jones of Auburn, Kentucky
  • Four grandchildren - Rick Grant, Brad Grant, Becca Melloan and Jenna Haynes
  • Three great-grandchildren - Colby, Emmie and Garrett
  • Several other relatives and friends, including a special nephew, Carol Harmon
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to Columbia Baptist Church or Green River Animal Shelter. These can be left at the funeral home.
