CPD: Meth arrest after traffic stop

The Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop at FiveStar at the intersection of Hudson Street and Burksville Street on April 25, 2024.

After making contact with the vehicle operator, it was found that he had a suspended license. Subsequent search of vehicle yielded finding of suspected methamphetamine.


James Oswald, 41, of Greensburg, was placed into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving on DUI suspended, and traffic violations.

Detective Evan Burton was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officers Jay Williams, Holly Necessary, and Tyler McKinney.
