By Christopher Coombs

Pikeville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Pikeville (Ky.) 8-0 in Mid-South Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Amos Complex.

Six different Blue Raiders (5-2-2, 2-0-1 MSC) scored in the match as two Lindsey Wilson student-athletes, Talia Johnson and Kajsa Conradsen, scored the first goals of their LWC soccer careers. Lindsey Wilson outshot Pikeville (2-10-0, 0-2-0 MSC) 29-1 including 17-0 in shots on goal. The Blue Raiders used 23 corner kicks in the match to spark their offensive production.

Lindsey Wilson took full advantage of their first scoring opportunity of the game when freshman Conradsen recorded her first goal in a Blue Raider uniform. Veronica Kurtz took a corner kick during the 2nd minute that Conradsen was able to head past Pikeville goalkeeper Erica Burkhardt.

Sina Cavelti added to the Lindsey Wilson lead when she scored her third goal of the season on a cross from Sanna Svensson during the 15th minute.

During the 42nd minute Svennson scored on a penalty kick as Emelie Liljered later increased the LWC lead to 4-0 when she scored her first of two goals on the day off another Kurtz corner kick.

The Blue Raiders kept up the offensive attack in the second half as they were able to tack on four more goals. The first goal of the half came during the 57th minute when the Bears recorded and own goal. Eight minutes later, the Blue Raiders would score again. This time a cross by Delfina Santellan was headed into an open goal by Alicia Thoresen.

During the 68th minute of the match Lindsey Wilson connected on their third corner kick of the game. Hannah Schrage sent a ball into the 18-yard box that found Liljered who headed the ball into the goal, increasing the LWC lead to 7-0.

Johnson would score the Blue Raiders final goal of the contest during the 85th minute.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Oct. 14 when they travel to Cumberland (Tenn.) to take on the Phoenix in a Mid-South Conference matchup.
