Shirley D. Stayton, 70, Savannah, GA (1948-2018) Shirley was a retired cosmetologist, and a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church where she volunteered and served on various committees for well over thirty years. She enjoyed painting and reading, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley D. (Sneed) Stayton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 29th, 2018. She was 70 years old. A visitation will be held from 6pmET until 7pmET, followed by a brief service, on Tuesday October 2nd, 2018, at Hubert C. Baker Chapel located at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA, with Dr. Jim Staubes officiating. A private burial will be held at the Antioch cemetery located in Columbia, Kentucky. She was born August 11th, 1948, and was preceded in death by her mother, Della Sneed, and her father, Clarence Sneed, and a sister, Annie Beula Sneed. The family was formerly from Adair County, KY. Shirley was a retired cosmetologist, and a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church where she volunteered and served on various committees for well over thirty years. She enjoyed painting and reading, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Welby L. Stayton; two sons, Michael and Bryan Stayton; one daughter Victoria Fields; one brother, Curtis Sneed; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Chase, Brandon Stayton and Anna Fields and Laura Stayton. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made in her honor to UT Medical Center Hospice Care located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Memorial gifts can be made online or mailed to The Development Office, University of Tennessee Medical Center, 2121 Medical Center Way, Suite 100, Knoxville, TN 37920.
