Remembering Ed Waggener: Three eloquent sentences

By Jim

When Ed's kinsman, business partner, and long time friend R.R. "Pete" Walker passed in 1973, Mr. Gordon Crump, then editor of the Adair County News, wrote a moving tribute to his fellow newspaper man, a tribute that ended with three eloquent sentences:
"[Pete] sought but little for himself, but much for the Adair Countians he loved.

"It will take a little more effort from the rest of us even to begin to fill in the void left by his departure.

"May God bless this fine human being."
Mr. Crump's words ring equally true of Ed. --Jim
