ACPC now a Pilot School for the Network to Transform Teaching By Pam Phipps The Network to Transform Teaching (NT3) is a consortium of over 130 schools seeking to ensure all students have access to accomplished teachers every day. Since 2016, NT3 pilot schools have tested and implemented changes to strengthen teaching quality and increase the number of board certified teachers across the nation. NT3 relies on the wisdom of practitioners at the school, district and state levels to develop resources and strategies that will bring accomplished certified teaching to scale. One strategy is to encourage and support teachers in becoming National Board Certified. National board certification is one of several ways educators can move their practice to a higher level. Currently, Adair County has sixteen National Board Teachers with Adair County Primary having six NBCT teachers and two new candidates! Lisa Hayes and Tanya Richards will begin the National Board Certification program this year. Board-certified teachers will be mentoring their colleagues to make connections between the Accomplished Teaching Body of Knowledge and their own teaching practice. By being a pilot school for National Board Certification, ACPC will have free access to invaluable teaching resources, such as written and video examples of exemplary teaching practices and strategies. For new and future NBCT candidates, the ACPC Pilot program will create a supportive pathway to the pursuit of National Board Certification by strengthening teaching practice through collaborative learning and NBCT support.
