The cost for Smoke and One Man's Lincoln will be $20 for the show and fish dinner, $10 for just the show. By George Kolbenschlag The fall program at the Homeplace on Green River show barn begins September 29 with the return of the very popular performance of the musical, Smoke on the Mountain. Both Smoke on the Mountain and the fish dinner served prior to the show were highly praised by the 120 persons who attended during the first run of the show at Homeplace this past June. It's a spirited show, and the audience laughed and some sang along with the cast. Smoke on the Mountain takes place on a Saturday night in June 1938 in the sanctuary of the Mount Pleasant Church in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The Sanders Family Singers are performing for the first time after a five-year hiatus from the gospel-singing circuit. The family of six have more than their share of testimonials to share with audience. It's a respectable musical comedy that is one of the most often produced shows world-wide. The play is directed by Lindsey Wilson College's Assistant Professor of Theater Robert Brock with music direction by Associate Artistic Director Jeremy Cloyd. The performers are students from Lindsey Wilson's theater program and local residents. Smoke on the Mountain is one of three performances scheduled at the Homeplace show barn this fall. On November 3, Brock will bring his acclaimed Kentucky Chautauqua performance of One Man's Lincoln to Homeplace and December 5 The Lindsey Wilson Singers and concert choir accompanied by the Commonwealth Musicians will present Handel's Messiah. Additional information on those performances is available at www.homeplacefarmky.org. Space is limited so make your reservations early by calling or e-mailing Phil Hanna at (270) 384-2894 or cphanna51@msn.com. The cost for Smoke and One Man's Lincoln will be $20 for the show and fish dinner $10 for just the show. The dinner also received high marks. There will be no set ticket price for The Messiah performance. Those attending will be asked to contribute whatever they wish following the performance. But reservations are required.
