Branscum, Sears appointed to State Board of Elections

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Dwight Sears, Joshua Givens Branscum, Sherry Rene Whitehouse, and Albert B. Chandler III to the State Board of Elections.

Joshua Givens Branscum, of Russell Springs, is executive vice president of the Branscum Construction Company, Inc. He will represent the Republican Party of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2022;

Dwight Sears, of Somerset, is the founder and owner of Silent Guard Security, Inc. He will represent the Republican Party of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2022;


Sherry Rene Whitehouse, of Brooks, is owner of Whitehouse Solutions, LLC. She will represent the Democratic Party of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2022;

Albert B. Chandler III, of Versailles, is an attorney and executive director of the Kentucky Humanities Council. He will represent the Democratic Party of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2022.

The State Board of Elections, an independent agency charged with administering the Commonwealth's election laws, promulgating administrative regulations necessary to properly carry out its duties, supervising the registration and purgation of voters, appointing the political party representatives to the 120 county boards of elections, and certifying the official election results. The Board is comprised of seven members: the Secretary of State (chairperson), along with three Democratic members and three Republican members appointed by the Governor.
