Click on headline for complete story By Ed Waggener In a brief special called meeting Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the Columbia City Council heard the first reading of a tax ordinance for the 2018 tax year, adopting a "compensating rate," and approved a resolution adopting an agreement between the City of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The compensating rate is one which is designed to result in the same tax bill as last year for most, but will mean an overall increase in revenue which will result from new property on the tax rolls. Another special meeting is set for at 5pmCT, today, Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the Council Meeting Room, City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. for the second reading and a vote to finalize the adoption. That, and an addendum to consider approving a contract with the only bidder on the Greensburg Street sidewalk project, will be the only two items on the agenda.
