2018 HGR Fall Heritage Festival may be record setter - preliminary MMQ

Monday morning quarterbacking - the immediate follow-up given to Homeplace Events to review what worked and what didn't, is still in progress. But this preliminary report indicates that one of the best concepts for a harvest time event was another huge success. Official final stats will be posted later, when they can be reliably reported by the HGR staff

Information from Homeplace on Green River

The official tally is not yet in, but the 2018 Homeplace on Green River just may have set a record, despite the threat of rain and one of the busiest weekends of massive events in South Central Kentucky, including Revisit Knifley, a huge football game at Blue Raider Stadium, and Bicentennial Celebration in Edmonton. Still, the crowds came, to an event which now "has a life of it's own," with a large base of devotees watching and checking for events that families - particularly - just won't miss.

"We do not have any attendance figures, yet," HGR publicist George Kolbenschlag said yesterday, "because the money counters are still at work. We all took a day off yesterday (Sunday). Besides it must be in the Bible somewhere about not counting your money on the Sabbath."

But he did send photo(s) and the word that the HGR Fall Festival had capacity crowds all day, Saturday.

Two big events at HGR Fall Festival - Hay ride, music in the Barn

Two of the busier events at Saturday's 2018 Fall Festival at Homeplace on Green River were the hay ride and the music in the show barn. The wagon rolls by the show barn where it appears there’s standing room only. Some were standing in line for the Mayfield Ice Cream vendors, Chris and Marie Anderson, also in the barn. Chris returned to do his usual double-duty as ice cream salesman and sound man for the performers. The festival was pretty well up to capacity all day. There was more of everything at this year’s festival—arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, exhibits and other activities. - George Kolbenschlag

The folks from Liberty Nature Center, Somerset, who rescue and rehab injured birds of prey, were one of the popular exhibits at the Saturday, September 8, 2018, Homeplace on Green River Fall Heritage Festival. This feathery friend is a red-tailed hawk. The farm was crowded all day and the rain held off until late in the afternoon. - George Kolbenschlag

A steady stream of folks of all ages arrived at Homeplace on Green River Saturday for the Fall Heritage Festival. Both parking lots were near capacity all day. There was lots to do with a record number of food vendors, artist and crafters selling their ware. There were also many folks exhibiting their skills and exhibiting everything from flint knapping to timbering with horses. - George Kolbenschlag
