Ethel Rachel Jeffries Adams, 96, Green County, KY (1928-2018)

She had made a profession of faith and was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church at Newt. She was a housewife, and the matriarch of a very large, widely respected family. She was a native of Green County and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late George & Della Bird Coomer Jeffries, and the widow of Leo Adams.

Ethel Rachel Jeffries Adams, 96, departed this life Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Funeral service will be at 1pmCT, Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY. Visitation will be after 8amCT, Sunday, until the funeral hour at 1pmCT. Ministers will be. Rev. Mickey Pruitt and Rev. Joe Milby. Burial will be in Green County Memory Garden, Summersville, KY.



Pallbearers - Carlos Curry, Sean Carter, Ronnie Jeffries, Danny Curry, Sean Wright, and John Lipps.

Honorary Pallbearers - Larry Compton, Phillip Coffey, Steven Milby, Elton Jeffries, and Delton Jeffries.

Ethel Rachel Jeffries Adams was born February 18, 1928 in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late George & Della Bird Coomer Jeffries. She departed this life Friday, August 31, 2018 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY having attained the age of 96 years, six months and 13 days.

She had made a profession of faith and was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church at Newt. She was a housewife.

Besides her parents, she wass preceded in death by her husband Leo Adams, grandson Calvin Lewis Curry, son-in-law: Glen (Moon) Matney, eight brothers and sisters: Alexander, Ben, Dudley, William and Sylvester Jeffries, Murt Edwards, Nettie Whitlock and Alta Mae Jeffries.

She is survived by:
  • Three sons - Robert Harold Adams and his wife Annette of Mt. Sherman, KY; Jerry Wayne Adams and his wife Sandy of Summersville, KY; and Terry Glenn Adams and his wife Brenda of Greensburg, KY

  • Three daughters - Betty L. Killensworth, Glenda Adams Curry and Brenda Kay Hunt and her husband Bruce, all of Greensburg, KY

  • Ten grandchildren - Sean Michael Wright, Steven Lewis Milby, Raedena Louise Janes and Harold, Carlos Curry and Samantha, Anna Curry and Danny, Anissa Matney and her fiance' Patrick Bailey, Terra B. Scott, Mandy and Daniel Scott and Melissa Adams

  • And an abundant amount of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren
