Yellow flower corrected - it is Partridge Pea, not Jewelweed Sharon Whitehurst writes: I believe your yellow flower is 'Partridge Pea' [chamaecrista fasciculata] very widespread at this time of year. [And no, I don't have that Latin name on the tip of my tongue!]. Jewelweed blossoms have a more orange coloration and the stems have a 'watery' consistency when broken - supposedly the liquid is soothing if applied to the irritation from stinging nettle or the like.
