On Saturday, July 28, 2018, 13-year-old Trayton Stargel traveled to Western Hills High School in Frankfort, KY to compete in the annual Bluegrass State Games Wrestling Tournament where he defeated his opponents one-by-one from across the Bluegrass and neighboring states to bring home a medal.

Trayton competed in the 125-130 pound weight class where only the top 3 wrestlers were awarded a prestigious medal.
>B?Rules based on experience, not age

This tournament was a little different than others Trayton had competed in.

They categorized the wrestlers by years of experience and weight class, not age. Therefore, Trayton actually had to wrestle men, not boys.

So, in the end, he proved he was capable of more than he ever thought possible.

Way to end the summer season by never giving up!!! - Amanda Taylor
