DNA research and family discoveries shared by speaker Campbell By Linda Waggener Darlene Campbell was the featured speaker at the August 6, 2018 meeting of the Adair County Genealogical Society to a crowd of over 40 filling the Adair County Public Library. Those attending were eager to learn from her about DNA research. She spoke from her experience with DNA Testing and Research, handing out information that might help others begin their own family research. She also will share her power point presentation by email to all who request it. A native of Adair County, she has been researching her family's genealogy all her life. Darlene is the art teacher at Adair County Primary Center, a published author, a visual artist, an actress, public speaker and she is co-founder of the Columbia Martial Arts Center located beside the Columbia Baptist Church. Historian Mike Watson wrote of her accomplishments: Darlene Campbell received the 2012 Mary Ballard Award from Casey Shay Press of Austin, Texas. Her literary works have been published in numerous journals and magazines and her books have been published by Martin Sisters Publishing, Casey Shay Press, Moon Gypsy Press, Autumn Sky Press and Old Seventy Creek Press. These works include: I Listened, Momma; Touched; Uncommon Clay; and Looking for Pork Chop McQuade. She also has one self-published poetry chapbook that deals with heritage and genealogy entitled In Mountain Shadows. This story was posted on 2018-08-08 00:04:39
