KSP Post 4 investigating officer involved shooting in Hardin Co. Hardin County deputy initiated a traffic stop on a person identified to have several felony warrants, but subject attempted to flee. A single gunshot was discharged in the process, which struck the subject. A short pursuit ensued, at the end of which the fugitive was taken into custody and transported to UL Hospital for treatment of injuries. Note - A charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a subsequent court of law. By Trooper Scotty R. Sharp, Public Information Officer Kentucky State Police Post 4, Elizabethtown, KY ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - (13 Jul 2018) - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigates an officer involved shooting in Hardin County. On July 12, 2018 at approximately 5:45pmET, KSP Post 4 received a request from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office to investigate an officer involved shooting that had occurred on Mountain View Estates Road in Hardin County. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Hardin County Deputy Sheriff had initiated a traffic stop on a subject identified to have several felony warrants. As the deputy attempted to take the suspect into custody, he refused, and attempted to flee in the vehicle he was operating. A single gunshot was discharged in the process, striking the subject. A short pursuit ensued, ending on Lower Colesburg Road. The subject was later taken into custody and transported to University of Louisville Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
