ACSO investigates 3-vehicle injury collision on Heartland Pkwy One vehicle was stopped to make a turn onto Farris Road, was struck in the rear by a pickup which was unable to stop and turning vehicle was knocked into the southbound lane where it was struck a second time by a southbound dump. truck. Two occupants of car attempting to turn taken to TJ Health/Columbia by Adair EMS. Occupants of pickup sustained minor injuries. Driver of SB dump truck also taken to T.J. Health/Columbia. The Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to a three vehicle accident which occurred near 6500 Campbellsville Road (Heartland Parkway/KY 55 - CM), Columbia, KY. A preliminary investigation determined a white 2003 F-250 pickup truck pulling a ball hitch trailer, operated by Robert Lockey, 54, of Columbia and his passenger Laura Lockey, 54 of Columbia, was Northbound on Campbellsville Road. A 2013 white Honda Odyssey operated by Hellen Butler, 72, of Columbia, and her passenger, Carolyn Humphress, 73 of Columbia, KY, were in the the Northbound lane stopped to make a left turn onto Farris Road. Lockey was unable to stop his vehicle in time and collided with Butler's vehicle in the rear. The collision casued Butler's vehicle to go into the Southbound lane of traffic. A black 2000 Freightliner Sterling dump truck operated by Brian Daniel, 43, of Albany, KY, was Southbound and was unable to stop when Butler's car was knocked into the Southbound lane. Daniel's vehicle collided with the front of Butler's vehicle. The dump truck continued on and struck a guard rail then overturned over a enbankment. Robert Lockey and Laura Lockey were able to walk from the scene with minor injuries. Hellen Butler and Carolyn Humphress were transported by Adair County EMS to T.J Health Columbia for injuries sustained. Brian Daniel was also transported by Adair EMS to T.J Health Columbia for injuries sustained. The Adair County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by Adair County EMS, and Adair County Rescue Squad. The accident remains under investigation. This story was posted on 2018-06-20 02:46:47
