LWC's Mosheleketi is NAIA National Men's Field Athlete of Year First athlete in program history to earn distinction Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom, LWC Assistant Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY - (31 May 2018 - Goabaone Mosheleketi has been selected as the 2018 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Men's Field Athlete of the Year, the organization announced on Thursday. He is the first athlete in program history to earn the distinction. The Lobatse, Botswana native captured the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship in both the long jump and triple jump events this season. After being seeded 20th coming into the championships, Mosheleketi won the long jump with a season-best distance of 7.51 meters, edging out the second-place distance of 7.50 meters. He then followed by dominating the triple jump with a distance of 15.57 meters, the lone competitor to eclipse the 15 meter mark in the event. It is Mosheleketi's second and third individual national titles of his career, also winning the triple jump national championship at last year's event. He secured 20 team points towards Lindsey Wilson's total, helping the Blue Raiders to a sixth-place finish. These awards were voted on by USTFCCCA member coaches based on performances both at this past weekend's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, AL as well as performances throughout the entire regular season.
