George Kolbenschlag: Thanks, JIM for Charles G. Austin story George Kolbenschlag writes: Thanks to JIM for his appropriate Memorial Day remembrance of Seaman 1st Class Charles Garnett Austin, who was killed just off-shore from New Caledonia in 1943. It's not the soldiers and sailors who determine when to dispatch our best and brightest to war. I sometimes wonder if some of those who do so would be as quick to send our sons and daughters off to fight wars if they had experienced war themselves. Thanks, JIM for reminding us these are our own mother, fathers and children who fight the wars. - George KolbenschlagComments re article 97586 Freedom isn't free In memory of S1c Charles Austin Garnett 19241943 This story was posted on 2018-05-28 13:18:52
