Day lilies scattered along roadways should be left unmown On less traveled byways, leaving natural beauty should not cause mowing crews any problems< Click on headline for editorial with photo(s) By Joyce M. Coomer Guest editorial Day lilies patches are scattered along the roadsides in the area and grace us with brilliant blooms in the summer. I think it would be nice for the road crews, when mowing, to leave these spots unmown so that the lilies can bloom freely and brighten a drive to town. I know it would be more difficult to do on heavily traveled roads but on roads such as the one I live on, with light traffic at slower speeds, the road crews should be able to either raise up the mower or drive around these patches of flowers. - Joyce M.
