Joe Knopp, 89, Taylor County, KY (1929-2018)

He served his country honorably in the United States Army and served two tours of war in Germany during the Korean conflict. He will be rendered full military honors by the Marion County Honor Guard at committal rites. He was a retired employee of Kroger after thirty nine years of dedication. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was the son of the late Joe Knopp & Hazel Shipp Knopp, and the widower of Frances Bennett Knopp, his wife of 30 years. He leaves 15 direct living descendants, with deep family ties in Campbellsville & Taylor County, Knifley and Columbia & Adair County, KY, and elsewhere in Kentucky and Florida.

Joe Knopp, 89, Campbellsville, KY, died at 11:05pmET, Friday, May 11, 2018 in Campbellsville.

Funeral Mass will be at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. Fr. Saju Vadakumpadan and Jeff Wright. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, 200 Block of W Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, with full Military Honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be after 8amCT/9amET, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Joe Knopp, 89, Taylor County, KY (1929-2018)


Joe Knopp was the son of the late Joe Knopp & Hazel Shipp Knopp. He was born January 8, 1929 in Taylor County, KY. He died Friday, May 11, 2018 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 89 years, four months, and two days.

Joe served his country honorably in the United States Army and served two tours of war in Germany during the Korean conflict. He was a retired employee of Kroger after thirty nine years of dedication. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

He united in marriage to Frances Bennett, February 3, 1951 and she preceded him in death March 6, 1990.

He is survived by:
  • One daughter and three sons: Connie Stiles and husband, Roger; Sam Knopp and wife, DeLisa; and Terry Knopp, all of Campbellsville, KY; and Tommy Knopp of Tampa, FL

  • Five grandchildren: Tiffany Lyons and husband, Adam of Fulton, KY; Amy Knopp of Knifley, KY; Missy Knopp and Savannah Lewis and husband, Zach, of Campbellsville, KY; and TJ Knopp of Tampa, FL

  • Six great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Pendleton of Knifley, KY; Preston Cappiello of Columbia, KY; Shelby Atwood, and Brooke Atwood of Campbellsville, KY; Quinn Lyons and Campbell Lyons of Fulton, KY
  • One sister-in-law: Shelby Moore of Greensburg, KY

  • One brother-in-law: Glenn Hawkins of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and many other relatives and friends
He was also preceded in death, in addition to his wife, by seven sisters and two brothers: Edith Hawkins, Ann White, Lucille Yates, Catherine Morgan, Dorothy Knopp, Margaret Knopp, Helen Williams, Marion Knopp, and Edwin Knopp.
