Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer Campbellsville Public Schools (CIS) They planted flowers, painted fingernails, helped children learn to read, cleaned and made phone calls. Campbellsville High School students recently spent a day performing community service. As a senior project, students divided into groups to volunteer at several local organizations, including Campbellsville Elementary School, Campbellsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, KidSpOT, Veterans Memorial Park and Emerald Isle Marina. Students did lots of work to benefit the community during the day, from cleaning to landscaping to visiting with nursing home residents and more. At Campbellsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, students visited with residents and spent time playing games. They also planted flowers, painted fingernails and curled the residents' hair. At Campbellsville Elementary School, students spent time helping students read, attending field trips, cleaning and mentoring students. While at KidSpOT, students made phone calls and gathered information about agencies in surrounding counties that offer services to those in need. At Veterans Memorial Park, students repaired fences and gathered trash. And at Emerald Isle Marina, students cleaned in the restaurant and at the docks, performed maintenance work and more. CHS teacher Lindsay Williams organizes the community service projects. This story was posted on 2018-05-10 04:27:09
