He was the member of a large, respected Northeast Adair County, KY family, the son of Walker and Doris McGaha Cowan. He was the son of Roger was the owner of Cowan Concrete for several years. He leaves 12 direct living descendants. He enjoyed his UK Wildcats, trading in lots of antique items and visiting with friends.

Roger Cowan, 60, of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10:12pmCT at the University Hospital in Louisville, KY after several months illness.

Funeral service: Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Clifton Cowan and Bro. Kerry Yates the officiating clergy. Burial will be in the Bearwallow Cemetery, 6030 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 4pmCT, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Roger Cowan, 60, Adair County, KY (1957-2018)

He was born July 1, 1957 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Walker and Doris McGaha Cowan. He died Saturday, April 28, 2018, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 60 years, nine months, and 27 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by these siblings, Sam Cowan, W. T. Cowan, Kenny Cowan, Cassius Cowan, Leonard Cowan, Peggy Fudge, Carol Luttrell, Patricia Montgomery, Gertrude Burton, and Glenna Cowan

He is survived by:
  • Two sons: Derek Cowan of Columbia, KY and Taylor Cowan of Russell Springs, KY

  • One daughter: Stephanie "Tessie" Vaughn and husband Jared of Campbellsville, KY

  • Six brothers survive: Calvin Cowan, Vaughn (Connie) Cowan, Clifton Cowan, Phillip (Sherry) Cowan, Donnie (Phyllis) Cowan, Darrell (Lisa) Cowan

  • Two sisters: Leoda (Donnie) Curry of Columbia, KY and Dora Ames of Tallua, IL

  • Five grandchildren: Kiara Cowan, Cecilia Salyers, Cassius Cowan, Maddix Vaughn, Greenlee Vaughn

  • Two special nieces Allison Bardin and husband Brandon and Amy Mouser

  • Special great nephews Kaden Bardin and Kyptyn Mouser

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
Roger was the owner of Cowan Concrete for several years. He enjoyed his UK Wildcats, trading in lots of antique items and visiting with friends.
