LWC Women's golf finishes 3rd at MSC Championship

Bowling Green, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team finished in third place at the Mid-South Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Bowling Green Country Club.

The Blue Raiders shot a three-day total 977 (318-323-336) at the 54-hole tournament. Lindsey Wilson finished 16 strokes behind second place Cumberland (TN).

Cumberlands (KY) took home the team championship with a three-day 933. Cumberland (TM) finished second at 961. Cumberlands' Kaitlyn Riley took home medalist honors at the MSC Championships after finishing 9-over par; marking the second straight year she has won the tournament.



Immediately following the conclusion of the round, the all-conference awards were announced. The all-conference teams were selected based on the three conference tournaments, the Fall, Spring, and MSC Championships. The lowest five rounds of the seven were used to determine the teams.

Tara Rodenhurst was name First Team All-Conference after averaging 77.7 strokes per round as Courtney Vincent, Shayna Cockrill and Dacie Bolton were each named to the Second Team All-Conference.

Cumberlands (KY) Riley was named the Golfer of the Year as Lucia Pena was named Freshman of the Year.

Bolton turned in the best Blue Raider round on day three, carding an 11-over par 83 to finish in a tie for 12th place, a three-shot improvement from Tuesday. Bolton finished the tournament with a total of 248 (79-86-83) after posting her best score of the competition on the first day. She recorded one birdie, eight bogeys and two double on her round as she pared the remaining holes.

Vincent posted a 249 (88-77-84) to finish in 14th place. She posted a 5-over mark on the front nine and on her final nine holes went 7-over par to end her round at 84.

Megan Kriz finished two strokes behind Vincent in for 15th place with a three-day 251 (86-81-84). She struggled on the back nine where she carded one triple bogey, two double bogeys and a trio of bogeys to sit at 10-over. Kriz found success on the front with one birdie, five pars and three bogeys, bringing her total pars to eight for the day.

Cockrill finished in 11th place at 246 (77-84-85). She posted 9-over par on the front nine to after opening with a seven on the par four first hole, but she was able to limit the damage on the back nine recording five pars and four bogeys to shoot an 85.

Rodenhurst completed the team scores with a 243 (76-81-86) to finish in a tie for 7th place. She struggle to find her game on the front nine posting a 12-over par results but responded on the back nine with a 2-over score after managing one birdie, five pars, and three bogeys to close out her round with an 86.

Ashley Strong, who competed as an individual at the event, shot a 277 (93-95-89) over the three days. She posted a 10-over on the back and a 7-over front nine to finish in 29th place for the tournament.
