Adair Co. Grand Jury returns indictments 24 Apr 2018

Indictments brought against 13 individuals from Columbia, Dunnville, Austin, Louisville, Somerset and Russell Springs, KY on charges including possession, trafficking, DUI, assault, theft, unlawful imprisonment, terroristic threatening, flagrant nonsupport, wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, menacing, public intoxication, and use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in a prohibited activity.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The Adair County, KY Circuit Court grand jury, Columbia, KY, returned indictments against the following individuals on Tuesday, 24 April 2018:


  • Brittany L. Meece, Dunnville Rd., Dunnville, KY Indictment 18-CR-00-115. Charged with 3 counts. Count 1 - Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, methamphetamine. Count 2 - Possession of drug paraphernalia. Count 3 - Endangering the welfare of a minor. Arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Cortany G. Giles (aka Courtney G. Giles), Quinn Hollow Rd., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00116. Charged with 1 count. Count 1 - Terroristic threatening, 2nd degree. Bail set at $1,000 cash, arraignment 2018-05-15 at 1pmCT.

  • Joy D. Ballard, Lee Carter Rd., Austin, KY Indictment 18-CR-00117. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, $500 or more but under $10,000. Count 2 - Bail jumping, 1st degree. No bond, arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Jaclynn R. Pelfrey, Burkesville St., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00118. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Arson, 2nd degree. Count 2 - Criminal mischief, 1st degree. Arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • David A. Carter, County Line Rd., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00119. Charged with 1 count. Count 1 - Prohibited use of electronic means originating or received within the commonwealth of Kentucky to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activity. Bail set at $5,000 cash/sec prop, arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Harold Baldon, Stratton Ave., Louisville, KY Indictment 18-CR-00120. Charged with 7 counts. Count 1 - Assault, 2nd degree. Count 2 - Persistent felony offender, 1st degree. Count 3 - Unlawful imprisonment, 1st degree. Count 4 - Persistent felony offender, 1st degree. Count 5 - Assault, 4th degree. Count 6 - Terroristic threatening, 3rd degree. Count 7 - Terroristic threatening, 3rd degree. Bail set at $50,000 cash/sec prop, arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Tyler J. Burton, Roberts Lane, Somerset, KY Indictment 18-CR-00121. Charged with 4 counts. Count 1 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, over $500 but under $10,000. Count 2 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, under $500. Count 3 - Criminal mischief, 1st degree. Count 4 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, $500 or more but under $10,000. Arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Steven J. Gilliam, E. Guardian St., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00122. Charged with 1 count. Count 1 - Flagrant nonsupport. Bail set at $2,000 cash, arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Zachary Dwight Jensen, Jamestown St., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00123. Charged with 9 counts. Count 1 - Wanton endangerment, 1st degree. Count 2 - Wanton endangerment, 1st degree. Count 3 - Menacing. Count 4 - Menacing. Count 5 - Assault, 3rd degree. Count 6 - Assault, 3rd degree. Count 7 - Assault, 2nd degree. Count 8 - Alcohol intoxication in a public place. Count 9 - Resisting arrest. Bail set at $10,000 cash (dist), arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Justin K. Coomer, M. Coomer Rd., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00124. Charged with 41 counts. Counts 1-6 - Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Counts 7-13 - Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Counts 14-16 - Receiving stolen property - firearm. Counts 17 & 18 - Receiving stolen property - firearm. Counts 19-25 - Receiving stolen property - firearm. Count 26 - Receiving stolen property - firearm. Count 27 - Fleeing or evading police, 1st degree, motor vehicle. Counts 28-41 - Persistent felony offender, 2nd degree. Bail set at $10,000 cash (dist), arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Tony Scott Scales, Blair Schoolhouse Rd., Russell Springs, KY Indictment 18-CR-00125. Charged with 8 counts. Count 1 - Trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, 2g+ methamphetamine. Count 2 - Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 2nd offense, methamphetamine. Count 3 - Possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree. Count 4 - Tampering with physical evidence. Count 5 - Possession of drug paraphernalia. Count 6 - Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. .08, first offense. Count 7 - Failure to wear seat belts. Count 8 - License to be in possession. Bail set at $10,000 cash (dist), arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Amber D. Reese, West Road, Russell Springs, KY Indictment 18-CR-00126. Charged with 6 counts. Count 1 - Trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, 2g+ methamphetamine. Count 2 - Possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree. Count 3 - Promoting contraband, 1st degree. Count 4 - Tampering with physical evidence. Count 5 - Possession of drug paraphernalia. Count 6 - Public intoxication. Bail set at $10,000 cash (dist), arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.

  • Matthew T. Alexander, Liberty Rd., Columbia, KY Indictment 18-CR-00127. Charged with 5 counts. Count 1 - Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. .08, 1st offense. Count 2 - Trafficking in marijuana, less than 8oz, 1st offense. Count 3 - Trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, <2g methamphetamine. Count 4 - Trafficking in a controlled substance, 3rd degree, 1st offense, <20DU, drug unspecified. Count 5 - Possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail set at $10,000 cash (dist), arraignment 2018-05-29 at 1pmCT.
