Beulah F. Pettyjohn, 89, Casey County, KY (1928-2018)

Ms. Beulah loved quilting, gardening, and caring for her flowers. She was a member of Noel's Chapel First Church of God. She was matriarch of a very large, highly regarded family, the daughter of the late Sib and Janie Scott Allen, and the widow of Hugh "P.J." Pettyjohn. She leaves 35 direct living descendants.

Beulah F. Pettyjohn of Liberty, KY passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was 89 years of age.

Funeral services are at 2pmCT/3pmET, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY; with Brother Hershel Lawhorn and Brother Cameron Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday 11am-2pmCT/12pm-3pmET, at the funeral home.



Beulah F. Pettyjohn, 89, Casey County, KY (1928-2018)


Born November 23, 1928 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Sib and Janie Scott Allen. She died Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 89 years, four months, and 29 days.

Ms. Beulah loved quilting, gardening, and caring for her flowers. She was a member of Noel's Chapel First Church of God.

Survivors include:
  • Three sons: Clint "Jack" Atwood, Allen (Rose) Atwood, and Craig (Jennie) Atwood all of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Sandra Wethington of Campbellsville, KY; and Ginger (Rick) Paevey of Lexington, KY

  • One sister: Matra Bland of Louisville, KY

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Twenty great-grandchildren
In addition to her parents, Ms. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "P.J." Pettyjohn, who passed away September 19, 1971; her former husband, Shelby Atwood; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
