Sylva Faith McBeath Hopper, 103, Russell Co., KY (1914-2018)

She was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Baptist Church. She was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death in her home in Russell Springs, KY. She was the matriarch of a great family, leaving 91 direct living descendants in addition to a host of step descendants. She was the daughter of the late William & Ida Mae Smith McBeath, and the widow of Claude Elmo Hopper. Her final resting place will be in Russell County, KY.

Sylva Faith McBeath Hopper, 103, of Russell Springs, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at her home.

Funeral service for Sylva Faith Hopper will be 11amCT, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Kendall Hopper and Bro. Lloyd Hopper officiating. Visitation will 5pm-8pmCT, Monday, April 23, 2018, and after 8amCT, Tuesday. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery, Russell County, KY. Special Music will be rendered by Brent Hopper Pallbearers: Chris Hopper, Robbie Hopper, Frank Whittle, David Whittle, Mark Hopper, Joey Hopper.

Sylva Faith Hopper, 103, was born September 3, 1914 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William & Ida Mae Smith McBeath. She died Friday, April 20, 2018, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 103 years, seven months, and 17 days.

She was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Sylva was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Elmo Hopper; and two sons, James Monroe Hopper, and C.O. Hopper.

Survivors include:
  • Her four daughters: Bonnie Plante, Clarksville, IN; Nila (Albert) Lothery, Pekin, IN; Lyda (Timmie) Foster, Clarksville, IN; and Tina Haydon, New Albany, IN

  • Her four sons: Lowell (Mary Jo) Hopper, and Randal (Vela) Hopper, Russell Springs, KY; Lloyd (Betty) Hopper, Bethel, Ohio; and Phillip Hopper, Russell Springs, KY

  • Her 21 grandchildren

  • Her 31 great grandchildren

  • Her 21 great great grandchildren

  • And a host of step grandchildren
