CAUD 5 Apr 2018: Burkesville St. Phase going great Stotts Construction crews are ready to be working in two directions on Monday, April 9, 2018: 1) Laying new line from Taylor Street toward finish of original contract - to and out Lancaster Street, while 20 other members of the Stitts team will be tying in customers from Five Star to the Masonic Lodge on line already laid, pressure tested, and tested for purity by Fouser Laboratory. Click on headline for complete story By Ed Waggener There was really good news about the progress on the Burkesville Street Phase of the Downtown Project, CAUD General Manager Lenny Stone reported at the April 5, 2018 special regular called meeting. He said that despite the weather - rain, rain, and snow, the project is going really well. The Main Line is now to the Bomar Heights intersection with Burkesville Street, and work is progressing down to and out Taylor Street and Ewing. Mr. Stone said that the quality of the work is extraordinary and that he has received many compliments about how it was done with so little interruption for residents and travellers along the way. A bore pit has been dug, ready for a directional bore under Burkesville Street from Taylor Streetm on Monday, April 9, 2018, he said. The Main Line has been pressured test to Hudson Street, and crews from Stotts Construction will be connecting - switching over taps from that point toward town to the Guardian Street crossing while other Stotts crews are working to complete the line to, and out Lancaster Street. The General Manager said that David Bowles, CEO of Monarch Engineering of Lawrenceburg, KY, was unable to make the special called meeting, but he would have cost estimates ready at the next future meeting. Mr. Stone said that despite heavy rock CAUD had not anticipated, costs continue under budget and that, at this point, it appears project will be completed very early, and under budget to its original destination, Lancaster Street. Mr. Bowles, because of an oversight, was not notified of the change in meeting times until up in the day of Thursday, and wasn't able to change plans on such short notice. The meeting was originally scheduled for the second Thursday of each month, which would have been April 12, 2018, and Mr. Bowles had set his calendar for that date.
