Freed-Hardemann at Carnes Baseball Stadium, Freed-Hardemann, 158 E Main Street (campus, not baseball venue), Henderson, TN at 4pmCT, Monday, April 9, 2018 By Anthony Latessa, LWC Athletics COLUMBIA, KY - (Fri 06 Apr 2018) The Lindsey Wilson baseball team completed the three-game Mid-South Conference series sweep of Shawnee State on Friday with a 12-0 victory in seven innings at Egnew Park. The Blue Raiders (18-18, 7-4 MSC) outscored the Bears (12-18, 1-10 MSC) 28-5 over the three-game series. Lindsey Wilson outhit Shawnee State 12-5 in the game today and totaled 38 hits over the three games. Ben Heideman led the way for the Blue Raiders going 4-for-4 with an RBI. Heideman recorded 10 hits in the series and drove in six runs while hitting a home run. Tyler Maskill and Nick Sanders each had three hits while Maskill drove in three runs. Manny Chavarria hit a home run and drove in three runs while Oliver Baez recorded two RBIs and Nick Sanders hit a home run. After a groundout, Heideman reached on a double to left-center field. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error by the Bear second baseman to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Sanders led off the second inning for Lindsey Wilson hitting his first home run of the season on the first pitch of the at-bat to increase the lead to 2-0. Heideman recorded an RBI single to right field to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead. Maskill increased the lead to 5-0 driving in a pair of runs on a double down the left field line. A Baez sacrifice fly pushed across the fifth run of the inning for the Blue Raiders as they increased their lead to 6-0. Heideman led off the Lindsey Wilson fourth inning with a double down the left field line. He then scored on a Maskill single to push the lead to 7-0. Baez doubled scoring Maskill as the Blue Raiders took an 8-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson took a 9-0 lead in the fifth inning on a Steven Calderon single. The Blue Raiders increased their lead to 12-0 in the sixth on a Chavarria three-run home-run. Dalton Hall struck out the side in the seventh inning to enforce the run rule.
