SAN ANTONIO, TX - (2 Apr 2018) Campbellsville signee Lexy Lake represented Lady Tiger basketball and Mercer County High School at this weekend's eighth annual American Family Insurance High School 3-Point Championship and finished runner-up.

Lake, an incoming freshman for the 2018-19 year, was one of 16 players that competed in a bracket vote for the final spot in the eight-player field (seven were given automatic invitations). She earned almost 96,000 votes to earn the spot and didn't disappoint.

A 42 percent 3-point shooter this season for the state champion Mercer County Titans, Lake competed Tuesday and finished second to Maryland signee Taylor Mikesell. The competition aired on CBS on Sunday, April 1 at 3:30pmET.

All eight players had two chances to shoot five racks of six balls. Lake scored 19 the first time and 20 the second time. That easily put her into the final against Mikesell.

Mikesell, the No. 32 ranked girls player according to ESPN out of Jackson (Massillon, Ohio), scored a total of 65 points out of a possible 90 in three rounds.

Lake "only" scored 15 in the final while Mikesell won with a score of 23.

"I was a little tired at the end but I should have had a better score than 15 in the final," Lake said. "I wasn't as nervous as I expected overall. I wasn't as nervous for the second set of shots but the final round I was really nervous.

"She (Mikesell) was really good. I think the 23 was her best score of the day."

To put Lake's score into perspective, Kentucky signee Immanuel Quickley and Duke signee Cam Reddish tied for the 3-point contest win at the McDonald's All-American Game Monday with a score of 17.

"It was definitely a great way to end my high school career," Lake said. "I really can't think of anything better. Winning state was amazing and then getting to compete in this was amazing. It was just awesome to get to go and finishing second in the nation was not bad."

Lake is one of five incoming Lady Tigers that have signed a National Letter of Intent with Campbellsville. She joins her twin sister, Faith, Lashaya Carman (Russell Co.), Shelby Harmeyer (Simon Kenton) and Madison Sheppard (North Laurel).

The Lady Tigers reached their NAIA-record 26th national tournament his past season and reached the Round of 16. CU finished with a 29-6 record and 12-2 inside the Mid-South Conference.
