LWC baseball wins Friday, 16 Mar 2018 to take 3 game series 2-1 Lindsey Wilson 9. Georgetown College 2, in game at Egnew Field Next: The Blue Raiders at Freed-Hardeman - at 4pmCT, Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Carnes Baseball Stadium, 158 E Main Street (campus, not baseball venue), Henderson, TN By Anthony Latessa, Lindsey Wilson College Columbia, KY (Fri 16 Mar 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team wrapped up a three-game Mid-South Conference series against Georgetown (KY) on Friday with a 9-2 victory at Egnew Park. Larry Stewart led the way for the Blue Raiders (13-14, 2-1 MSC) with two hits and driving in three runs. Oliver Baez, Nick Sanders and Seth Price each drove in a run. Georgetown (15-9, 1-2 MSC) outhit Lindsey Wilson 8-6. Lindsey Wilson committed one error while the Tigers committed three. Lindsey Wilson had runners on first and second with one out after back-to-back walks in the bottom of the second inning. After a strikeout, Stewart put the Blue Raiders up 1-0 with an RBI single into right field. Lindsey Wilson would add two more runs in the inning on two Georgetown wild pitches to increase its lead to 3-0. Tyler Maskill led off the Blue Raider third reaching on an error by the Tiger third baseman then advanced to second on a balk. Ben Heideman bunted and reached on an error by the Georgetown pitcher. Maskill advanced to third on the bunt and then scored on the error to push the lead to 4-0. The third Georgetown error of the inning loaded the bases for Lindsey Wilson. After a walk made it 5-0, Stewart drove in a pair of runs with a double to increase the lead to 7-0. A sacrifice fly by Baez put the Blue Raiders up 8-0. The Blue Raiders increased their lead to 9-0 in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Price. Antonio Monroy led off the Georgetown sixth inning reach on a bunt. Monroy then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. The Tigers got on the board when Ryan Garner hit a single into left field that drove in Monroy to make it 9-1. Georgetown added a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 9-2. Kelvin Guzman picked up his first win of the season pitching eight innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts. Monroy, Garner and Tyler Wagner each recorded two hits for Georgetown. Monroy drove in both of the Tiger runs in the game. This story was posted on 2018-03-17 06:51:11
