Click on headline for complete story with Richard Robards photo By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director Billings, MT (Fri 16 Mar 2018) -- Central Methodist (MO) won the tempo battle and thus the game today with an 88-73 victory over Lindsey Wilson women's basketball in the second round of the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Championship presented by Wells Fargo at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. The Blue Raiders' season comes to an end with a 26-8 record. Kayla Styles -- the lone senior on the Lindsey Wilson team -- capped her terrific career with another outstanding performance, scoring 37 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Styles averaged 31.5 points and 15 rebounds in her two games in Billings. Reagan Turner added 16 points -- 12 in the second half -- to give the Blue Raiders a pair of double-figure scorers. Central Methodist -- who ranks second in the NAIA in scoring -- proved to be too much for the Blue Raider defense to contain over the 40 minutes. The Eagles (28-7) scored 88 points while shooting 52.9 percent (37-of-70) from the field. The 88 points are the second-most allowed by the Blue Raiders this season while the nearly 53 percent shooting is the tops a team has shot against Lindsey Wilson this season. Lindsey Wilson aided in the Eagles' offensive effort. Central Methodist scored 23 points off 16 Blue Raider turnovers and tallied 15 second-chance points off its 12 offensive rebounds. Despite the red-hot shooting from the Eagles and the miscues, Lindsey Wilson remained within striking distance until the fourth quarter. The Blue Raiders trailed 43-38 at the half and was within seven points (74-67) early in the final period. Central Methodist used a 9-0 run, after the Blue Raiders cut the deficit to seven, to extend the lead to 83-67 with six minutes left in the game. The Eagles lengthened their lead to as many as 17 points before winning by 15. While a pair of Blue Raiders posted double figures, four Eagles reached double digits. The NAIA's leading scorer DaJonee Hale scored a team-high 31 points while Ana Borges added 25. Zhara Laster and Brandi Henton scored 12 and 11, respectively. Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 46 percent (29-of-63) from the field, but made just 4-of-17 from beyond the 3-point arc. Styles concludes her Lindsey Wilson career with 1,502 points and 800 rebounds in just 75 games. She ranks sixth on the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball all-time scoring list and fifth all-time in rebounding.
