LWC Men's Bowling takes 12th at sectional championships

Smyrna, TN - The Lindsey Wilson men's bowling team turned in a 12th-place finish over the weekend at the 2018 Intercollegiate Singles and Team Sectional Championships held at the Smyrna Bowling Center.

In the team competition, the Blue Raiders racked up 11,857 total pins across the 64 games. Lindsey Wilson recorded 2,888 pins during the first block to sit in ninth place in the team standings, and despite their best block of the weekend with 3,053 pin sin their second block, slipped to 12th place after 32 games. A 2,996 in the third block helped LWC climb back to ninth place, but the Blue Raiders eventually fell back to 12th after a 2,920 in the fourth and final block of games.


In the singles competition, Tyler Goodman was the highest LWC finisher in 34th place with 1,181 total pins across his six games. He bowled 200 or better in half of his games, including rounds of 215, 225 and 206 in his first, second and sixth games, respectively.

Andrew Dube finished in 95th place with 1,093 pins, including a 234 in his third game. Jonah Anderson finished just behind Dube in 101st place with a score of 1,086 while John Loftus completed the Blue Raider quartet with 1,007 pins in 149th place.

The top seven individuals advanced to the national championships led by Robert Morris' (IL) Bryan Bourget with 1,376 pins. Robert Morris, St. Francis (IL), Wisconsin-Whitewater and SCAD Savannah (GA) were the top four team finishers that advance to the national championship later this month in Lincoln, NE, joining the top four teams from the other three sectional sites.
