Kids are talking more and adults are listening At this meeting, in addition to the report on the needs assessment, a reminder was given of the Saturday, March 17, 2018 Farm Home and Garden Expo at Adair County Elementary School, 870 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Special activities of the day for young folks include 4-H cupcake wars, free meals, demonstrations and youth activities. By Linda Waggener Tony Rose, Adair County Agent for Youth and 4-H, gave a followup report to the Adair County WATCH Coalition on the Youth Community Needs Assessment at the March meeting. Challenges identified include needs for keeping kids drug free, stopping bullying, more mentoring, community centers and self-defense training. He said he is 55 now and for 45 of those years our communities have been talking about fighting drugs -- the difference now, he said, is that the kids are doing more of the talking -- and they're coming up with new ideas. His goals are to get the word out and get community involvement from families, churches, from city Council and from fiscal court, and more. He gave handouts for the Saturday, March 17, 2018 Farm Home and Garden Expo at Adair County Elementary School, 870 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY with details of the special activities of the day including 4-H cupcake wars, free meals, demonstrations and youth activities. For more information, he can be reached at 270-384-2317. This story was posted on 2018-03-10 22:17:49
