Alvis (Honey) Sullivan, 93, Adair County, KY (1924-2018)

He was a founding member of the Oak Grove Church of God Prophecy. He was a retired farmer, and he was a Veteran of World War II. serving his country in the United States Army. He was the patriarch of an outstanding family, the son of the late Lilburn Cain & Jewell Harvey Sullivan. He was the widower of Dorothy Grider Sullivan. He leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Alvis "Honey" Sullivan, 93, of the Oak Grove Community of Adair County, KY, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at 10:45pmCT, at Signature Health & Rehab at Summit Manor in Columbia, KY.

Funeral service Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Bro. Joe David Sullivan. Interment will be in the Grider Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Saturday, March 10, 2018. Pallbearers; Michael Sullivan, Andy Willis, Chase Willis, RJ Blackburn, Carson Hadley & Kent Sullivan Honorary Pallbearers; Gerald Huckaby, Gene Robertson. Stanley Carter, James Green, Aaron Sullivan, Chris Sullivan, Jordan Willis, Blake Sullivan & Herman Conover.

He was born on December 12, 1924 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Lilburn Cain & Jewell Harvey Sullivan. He died Monday, March 5, 2018, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 93 years, two months, and 21 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Grider Sullivan, on April 6, 2009, one son, Billy Sullivan; son-in-law Jasper Pike; three brothers Clifton, Harold & Glendo Sullivan; three sisters Alberta Woods, Doris McGowan and Judy Sullivan.

She is survived by:
  • One son: Bobby (Lee Ann) Sullivan of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Sharon Pike of Columbia, KY

  • Daughter-in-law: Gloria Sullivan of Columbia, KY

  • Five brothers: Kermit Sullivan, Donald Sullivan, Jerry Sullivan, Glendal Sullivan of Russell County, KY; & Larry Sullivan of Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Bernice Nicholas & Virginia Patterson

  • Five grandchildren: Michael (Tasha) Sullivan, Robin (Jeff) Willis, Billie Julee Sullivan, Brandi (RJ) Blackburn and Chase (Ashley) Willis

  • Six great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Alvis was a founding member of the Oak Grove Church of God Prophecy, was a retired farmer, a Veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army.
