ACES students place in 2018 Region 14 Governor's Cup

Complete list of Adair County Elementary School winners below. ACES competed with 11 different schools from Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell Taylor, and Wayne Counties.

On Saturday, March 3, 2018, Adair County Elementary School Academic Team traveled to Jamestown Elementary for the Region 14 Governor's Cup. Students from eleven different schools in the counties of Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne participated in this event.

Teams began the day with written assessments in Arts & Humanities, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. The following students from ACES placed in this event:



WRITTEN ASSESSMENTS
  • Mathematics - Kinzlee Akin (4th place)
  • Science - Bailey Watts (1st place), Andrew Zinati (3rd place)
  • Social Studies - Andrew Zinati (2nd place)

  • Language Arts - Mason Holliman
  • Mathematics - Aaron Smith
  • Science - Joseph Kotter

QUICK RECALL - Runner-Up
Quick Recall began at 11:15amCT, when ACES fell to Taylor County with a score of 25-20. With a bye in the second round, ACES was in a nail-biter the third round against Clinton County, where ACES won match at 20-19. In the fourth round, ACES was victorious over Jamestown with a score of 22-9, leading them into round five against Taylor County with a win of 18-16. The last and final round, ACES competed against Green, where they fell short to a 19-17 match score. ACES received the Runner-Up trophy in Quick Recall.

  • Kinzlee Akin, Nathan Ballou, Seamus Cook, Joseph Kotter, J.T. Loy, Aaron Smith, Bailey Watts (Team Captain), Jay Whalen, & Andrew Zinati
Other Quick Recall members: Addie Bennett, Hannah Kotter, and Trina Nguyen


Future Problem Solving results announced

Results from FUTURE PROBLEM SOLVING (FPS) and WRITTEN COMPOSITION, which took place on Monday, February 26, 2018, were announced. ACES was awarded 4th place in this event.

ACES student participating in FPS were as follows:
  • Hannah Kotter, Joseph Kotter, Arraya Phelps and Aaron Smith (Alternates were Natalie Kaylor and Abbie Kemp)

Written Composition

  • Bailey Watts (2nd place)
ACES student participating in Written Composition was
  • Trina Nguyen
Mrs. Lisa Newell, 4th grade math teacher, is the coach for written assessments, written composition and quick recall. Mrs. Jeana Pike, 4th grade reading teacher, is the coach for future problem solving.
