Lindsey Wilson Men's Basketball faces Carroll in NAIA National Tournament; Lindsey Wilson Women's Basketball to face Martin Methodist

Lindsey Wilson men's basketball faces Carroll (Mont.) in the opening round of the 2018 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament, NAIA officials announced tonight.

Lindsey Wilson and Carroll are part of the eight-team Cramer Bracket in the 32-team field.

The seventh-seeded Blue Raiders (24-8) and second-seeded Fighting Saints meet at 12:30pmCT on Thursday, March 15, at Municipal Auditorium, 301 W 13th St, Kansas City, MO.


Lindsey Wilson earned one of the tournament's 14 automatic bids after winning the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Sunday in Pikeville. The national tournament berth is Lindsey Wilson's 12th appearance and it's first since the 2013 tournament when the Blue Raiders reached a program-best Fab Four. Lindsey Wilson is 9-11 all-time in the national tournament.

No. 5-ranked Carroll also earned an automatic bid after winning the Frontier Conference Tournament. The Fighting Saints (27-5) are making their 12th national tournament appearance and sports an 11-11 all-time record at the season-ending tournament.

In addition to the 14 automatic berths, one host berth and 17 at-large spots were handed out. Automatic qualification is given to conference regular-season champions, regular-season runners-up, tournament champions or tournament runners-up depending on the league. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches' Top 25 Poll released today.

The Lindsey Wilson-Carroll winner advances to face the winner of third-seeded Hope International (Calif.) and sixth-seeded Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Friday.

Lady Raiders face Martin Methodist
Lindsey Wilson women's basketball is the No. 3 seed in the Liston Bracket of the 2018 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Tournament bracket, NAIA officials announced this afternoon.

The Blue Raiders face No. 6 seed Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in the last game on Wednesday, March 14. Tip-off is slated for 10:45 p.m. CT at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Montana.

No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson (25-7) received one of the tournament's at-large bids into the 32-team tournament. The No. 22-ranked RedHawks (26-7) earned an automatic bid into the national tournament after winning the Southern States Conference's regular-season title.

The field consists of 14 automatic berths, 17 at-large selections and championship host Rocky Mountain (Mont.). Automatic qualification is given to conference regular-season champions, regular-season runners-up, tournament champions or tournament runners-up depending on the league. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches' Top 25 poll released today.

Lindsey Wilson is making its 13th appearance in the national tournament and its fourth straight. The Blue Raiders own a 7-12 all-time record in the national tournament, including reaching the last two national quarterfinals. Martin Methodist completes in its fourth national tournament this year and is 0-3 all-time.

The Blue Raiders and RedHawks played in last season's national tournament in the opening round. Lindsey Wilson won that matchup 63-52.

The winner of the Lindsey Wilson-Martin Methodist advances to face the winner of second-seeded Central Methodist (Mo.) and seventh-seeded Arizona Christian on Friday, March 16 at 3:15pmCT.
