Murray Scott, 81, Adair County, KY (1936-2018)

He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, former Trustee, usher and in any capacity needed. He retired from Nelson County School System and was a former sign painter. He was a member of an outstanding Adair County, KY family. He was the son of the late Jack & Georgia Murray Scott. His wife of 62 years, Juanita McKinney Scott, survives. He leaves 21 direct living descendants to carry on his legacy.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11amCT, at Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Gary Lane, Harold McKinney, Laura McKinney and Bro. Aaron LaBarge officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4pmCT, Thursday, March 8, 2018, and from 6am until 8:30amCT, Friday at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, and after 9amCT, Friday at the Columbia Baptist Church.

Murray Scott, 81, Adair County, KY (1936-2018)


He was born September 17, 1936, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Jack & Georgia Murray Scott. He died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at his home in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 81 years, five months, and 17 days.k

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister; Ida Mae Corbin.

Murray was a member of Columbia Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, former Trustee, usher and in any capacity needed. He retired from Nelson County School System and was a former sign painter.

Survivors include:

  • His wife of 62 years: Juanita McKinney Scott of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Patricia Scott of Columbia, KY

  • Three sons: Jack Scott and wife, Teresa, of Columbia, KY; Greg Scott and wife, Kimberly, of Waco, KY; and Harold Scott and wife, Debbie, of Portland, TN

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Ten great-grandchildren

  • Several other relatives and friends
