Nevis Alley Jasper Grider, 93, Russell Co., KY (1929-2018)

She was a homemaker and the matriarch of a great family leaving 39 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren plus a host of great great grandchildren to cherish her memory. She was the daughter of the late Marvin & Gertrude Bailey Alley, and the widow of first James Jasper and later Ralph Grider.

Nevis Alley Jasper Grider, 88, of Russell Springs, died Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Jamestown, KY.

Funeral service for Nevis Alley Jasper Grider will be at 10amCT, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Beckham Ridge Separate Baptist Church, Russell County, KY, with Bro. Richie Curtis, Bro. Garnett Hammond, Bro. Dustin McGowan, & Bro. Eric Antle officiating. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 8amCT, Tuesday, at the church. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Russell County, KY. Special Music will be rendered by Nicolette Bailey, accompanied by pianist Curt Hill. Active pallbearers: Billy Grant, Chris Jasper, Craig Jasper, Greg Hammond, Bryce Bailey, and Jonathan Smith. Honorary pallbearers: Billy Jo Cravens, Tunie Kerr, Gary Sullivan, and Clarence Redmon.

She was born September 4, 1929 in Russell Springs, KY. She was the daughter of the late Marvin & Gertrude Bailey Alley. She died Friday, February 23, 2018, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 88 years, five months, and 19 days.

She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Jasper & Ralph Grider; and one daughter, Pytricia Kaye Jasper. Survivors:
  • Four daughters: Shirley Ann (Forrest) Grant, Nancy Susan (Garnett) Hammond, Mary Lynn (Kevin) Bailey, Jo Nell (Charles) Smith, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • One son: Bobby Lee (Beverly) Jasper, Russell Springs, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren and 23 great-granchildren: Billy Grant & Becky, Leslie, Will & Ethan Christopher Lee Jasper & Janice, Emmy & Katie Pamela Diane Cornell, Grant & Lily Craig Lane Jasper & Kay, Casey, Kara, Cole Dr. Stephanie Jones & Donnie, Morgan & Ben Beth Ann Antle, Justin & Dakota James, Gregory Hammond & Julie, Laila, Stella, & Tyson Whitney Ellis & Adam, Landri, Livy, Huck Bryce Bailey & Nicolette, Braxton Tyla Bailey Jonathan Smith & Shelley, Jackson & Colby

  • Special nephew: Billy Craven

  • Special sister-in-law: Nelda Age

  • A host of great-great grandchildren
